Blade R

Blade R is a compact and miniaturised ring of light, a high-precision masterpiece that makes lighting an element whose style and functions blends perfectly with architecture. Any architect designing a space has to unite elements and functions and integrate them in a harmonious manner that enhances the value of the overall design and makes the architectural environment liveable. Whereas furniture can be designed in situ to ensure it fit its context perfectly, other functional and technological elements are often already on the market and have their own specific design, so they may not always adapt to each other and their context. Blade R seeks to meet this twin requirement of functional and formal integration by combining various benefits and functions in a single product.

With its high level of visual comfort and a central core that can host a range of different devices to meet user requirements, Blade R develops the concept of integration in architecture to improve people’s well-being through the smart activation of safety, entertainment, comfort, sustainability and lighting scenario services. This new product, that can also be controlled by smartphone using BLE protocol, meets numerous integration requirements, including:

 

integration with a loudspeaker that allows a sound diffusion system to create a more pleasant environment, while also guaranteeing that safety standards are respected in the event of fire by broadcasting evacuation messages; integration with a smoke detector that is obligatory for the purposes of fire warnings; integration with an emergency light that guides people in the event of a blackout; integration with a video camera that provides a complete 360° view to help protect people; integration with a BLE (Bluetooth) multi-sensor that allows light to be used accurately and only as required, which boosts energy saving; integration with other luminaires, such Easy Tunable White, Palco Framer and Laser with different light distributions and colours to create real and dynamic light scenarios; smart service activation through a beacon (push notification, space management, indoor navigation etc.).

Blade R has a number of different standard and order-only finishes, as well as a central cover that can be painted any colour in order to match the ceiling and blend completely with the architecture. Blade R is available in frame or minimal versions and comes in three different dimensions (80mm, 125mm and 170mm diameter) and three colour temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 4000K). Characterised by its extremely compact design (only 37-44mm high) Blade R is able to be recessed in any thickness of ceiling.

Another aspect that characterises the product is miniaturization, which regards not only the luminaire, but its components too. The technological innovation of latest generation LEDs, together with research into materials, optics and applications, have allowed every precious millimetre to be used and any superfluous space to be eliminated. The lamp is invisible and generates absolute visual comfort with UGR values of <10 thanks to Super Comfort optics that eliminate glare completely. The screening angle is high enough to hide the lamp from view, but this does not in any way compromise the product’s emission and efficiency. The light is aimed and maximised by a micro optical assembly that uses patented iGuzzini Opti Beam technology. This means the optic’s special (multi-faceted) texture amplifies the reflections of the rays emitted by the LED to create a sharp final effect with no colour flaws. Blade R High Contrast with Opti Beam emits a perfectly defined and uniform light beam. Blade R adopts the DALI communication protocol. Through a remote BLE-DALI interface it is possible to manage the light via Bluetooth (Smart Light Control) with a smart device and activate the beacons for the implementation of Smart Services. Power of Ethernet versions available, to integrate power and data in a single system.
