Babled Editions

Emmanuel Babled’s design method is influenced by craftsmen’s expertise, always starting with an initial immersion in each field, followed by the development of an engagement with Master artisans and their community.

With multiple novelties to present and many others in development, Babled keeps the mission of showing that design can truly contribute to a better living.

Firstly, we present the new Etnastone Guéridon table, shaped by a piece of lava, coloured and patterned with delicate enamelling that provides a unique finish to the volcanic texture. Its customisation possibilities are endless, from the impressive palette of glazes to the uniqueness of every brush stroke, making each piece unrepeatable.
This collection is produced in collaboration with Made a Mano.

Furthermore, we present the third model of Supernova, an iconic lampshade reinterpreted in a thin layer of Carrara marble. Thanks to new generation sculptors and advanced technologies, it has been possible to create such a light item and achieve this unique flying effect.
This project is produced in collaboration with Torart.

Lastly, we present the second edition of the unique Azoici glass pieces, handblown in collaboration with Master Andrea Zilio, from Vetreria Anfora.
The matte surfaces delicately contrast with the slightly tinted transparent glass, like magma solidified in a geological layer. Each piece is different, in its own way expressing the interaction between the plasticity of the material and the serendipity of the Master glassblower’s movement.

Conversation with Master Andrea Zilio

Master at the Anfora furnace, in Murano, Italy.

Emmanuel Babled, who has been working with Andrea Zilio for years, started this conversation in July 2019. Andrea told us about the glass learning process, the difficulties and the satisfaction, the relationships with artists and designers and the necessity nowadays of defending artisan’s rules.
