Designer Viivi Lehto
Viivi Lehto (born 1983) is an artist and designer, living and working in Helsinki. As an artist Lehto aims to create new, playful, often a bit twisted or whimsical versions of reality. Lehto believes art is a powerful tool to open new viewpoints by tickling the imagination. The Garden series she is currently working with, explores the themes of evanescent nature, inner growth and importance of play. Many of her works are connected to understanding traditions and working by hand.
Lehto’s practice is connected to visual arts, creative thinking and design - she moves between different materials and mediums. In her process, she is typically using a multi-sensorial approach combining music, visual arts and tactile ways of working. Her art is featured in many events, collections, solo and group exhibitions during last years including Chart Art Fair, UU Market Collection, Helsinki Design Week and Topelius Gallery. Lehto graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Lahti Institute of Design, University of Applied Sciences 2009. Currently she is finalizing her Master studies in Aalto University, Visual Culture, Curating & Contemporary Art Programme.
