Mona Matsui Textile Collection
Mona Matsui was born in 1992, Tokyo.
Currently, she is studying at Royal College of Art, MA-Textiles Printed Textiles.
The aim of her textile design is to create a sensorial space/environment so that people can familiar with spaces or buildings and enhance the beautiful moment in a space which we take for granted in daily life. She thinks that textiles are the interface to connect the relationship between human, architecture, nature, inside and outside. Her design inspiration is nature and natural phenomena. Therefore, she takes natural light, wind and the movement of air to design a space.
Because of the serious environmental issues that are caused by textile industries, she is investigating an alternative way of the expression of printing technique. Her design style is to reflect the possibilities and features of the material into her textile design by combining with novel technique and traditional Japanese textile technique, thorough investigation of the material.
